Founded in 1989, Lar da Benção provides children whose parents are temporarily unable to care for them a safe place. Programs include education, creative arts, health, and social services. Lar da Benção receivesfunding from the public sector but the funding stream is volatile. As a result, Sitawi provided them a bridge loan for a fundraising event.
They currently are serving 300 families and are raising funds to build more facilities to expand their offerings. Lar’s impact is expressed by its education program wherein children, young adults and vulnerable populations are introduced to music, culture and arts. By 2015, more than 2,3 million soups had been served, 2,789 children supported, 4,900 families assisted, with an average of 261 people a year.
