Founded in 2010, Mobile Metrix is a non-profit that aims to gather data about populations at the base of the pyramid, representing “invisible” people who live in segregated communities excluded from traditional surveys on employment, education and health. Mobile Metrix signed a contract with a multinational consumer goods company to do a health and hygiene survey in communities in Rio de Janeiro and Recife. Because of cash flow problems, it needed adequate funding to conduct the survey prior to its full funding arriving. SITAWI lent Mobile Metrix $ 100,000 BRL to facilitate the project’s implementation. The loan smoothed the implementation of the survey, employing young people from the communities to improve their employability, drawing attention to community health and hygiene needs, and providing training in these areas for the local residents.
